2014 Retreat | Crofton, BC

Ensemble members enjoyed a successful weekend fully immersed in rehearsal of the compositions for our November 23rd Concert Shades of Blue.

Small ensemble rehearsals, led by various combo captains, were held in the main hall and balcony tent. Saturday rehearsals culminated in an afternoon preview concert held at the outdoor amphitheatre.

Though Saturday was dedicated to rehearsals, singers were provided time to enjoy the verdant landscape, beach, trails and outdoor activities of the camp situated on a hillside facing Saltspring Island. The basketball court, trampolines, friendly deer, and of course the merry-go-round, provided much interest.

Saturday concluded with a bonfire and marshmallow roast, an evening saturated for several hours with constant song and good humour.

Many thanks go out to our hosts at Camp Qwanoes—Avner, Colleen and Erin—who welcomed us and kept us well fed. Many thanks, also, to the drivers who provided transportation—Joey, William, Aaron, and especially Matt!

Congratulations to all who have been accepted into the Ensemble!

Thank you to all who auditioned! You all navigated some tricky excerpts with much success.

A very special 'thank you' to the Audition Team. This year's Team was comprised of mostly sophomore members. Well done Team:

Margaret, Micha, Natasha, Kenji, Sophie, Taylor and Nick.

Our new Ensemble Manager is Natasha. She has already begun to prove herself in terms of her dedication to task, her prompt and thorough organization, her keen eye for detail and creative input and enthusiasm. Thank you Natasha for taking the helm!

Fox Glove is an amalgamation of three very different female voices which come together to create a fresh, sophisticated sound. Renn Madeleine Bibeau, Claire Butterfield, and Chelsea Kanstrup's haunting yet enchanting harmonies whisper everything from Tennessee to Tottenham to Tofino. With the help of a suitcase filled with instruments they've accumulated on their separate journeys through life, this trio brings you a collection of folky originals, as well as their own unique twist on a selection of songs that you may or may not already know.

2014 Valentiners Around Town

It was a modest year for the number of Singing Valentines delivered, but the emotions of our clients and the enthusiasm of our singers were no less high on this year's jour de l'amour than in previous years.
