Fifth Street @ PTY: Emerging Alumni Series Feb 2

Vocal Jazz Ensemble veterans to perform in Emerging Alumni Series!

https://finearts.uvic.ca/music/calendar/events/emerging-alumni-series-fifth-street/

The Victoria-based vocal quintet, Fifth Street, combines the worlds of pop, jazz and R&B in perfect five-part harmony. The sublime voices of Natasha Penfield, Jilaine Orton, Ryan Narciso, Kenji Lee and Taylor Caswell found a groove together while students at UVic and as members of the UVic Vocal Jazz Ensemble.

You’ll enjoy their original a cappella arrangements of pop hits such as Imogen Heap’s Hide and Seek and Morning Light by Justin Timberlake as well as fresh takes on timeless classics including Georgia On My Mind and What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve.

UVic Music alumni are invited to an exclusive pre-concert reception. There will be tasty hors d’oeuvres, door prizes, plus a special pre-concert appearance by Fifth Street.

2018 Spring Showcase: Memories

UVic Vocal Jazz showcases are filled-to-capacity events that offer audiences the prospect of a thoroughly engaging and fun-filled musical experience. Our showcases celebrate the considerable dedication and achievement demonstrated by our singers both on stage in concert and off stage in rehearsals, as well as the considerable effort and skill demonstrated by technology operators drawn from within the Ensemble and from our technology program headed by Professor Kirk McNally.

Renn Madeleine Bibeau, Claire Butterfield, and Chelsea Kanstrup's haunting yet enchanting harmonies whisper everything from Tennessee to Tottenham to Tofino. With the help of a suitcase filled with instruments they've accumulated on their separate journeys through life, this trio brings you a collection of folky originals, as well as their own unique twist on a selection of songs that you may or may not already know.
